Hi all, im trying to figure out the Melbourne control frequencies. because i now travel everyday to work in canberra im trying to figure out the corralation to the frequencies used here and i guess everywhere on the SYD-MEL path. but as every call is answered as MEL Control its hard to figure
i have the following frequencies that ive roughly done.
121.1
125.0
129.8
133.15
124.1
128.4(which i think is linked to 133.15 and 129.8)
im also trying to find out how they all link up and which areas there used for or which paths, particuarly the top 3.
cheers all
Matt :)

Matt.

I 've had a check up in the ERSA and als a few charts and found the following which may be useful ..

121.1 --- A Melbourne Flightwatch frequency with a transmitter at Kings Tableland ( serves Southern tablelands area )

125.0--- Melbourne ATC , c/s Melbourne Centre . Serves SY-MEL route abm Canberra and covers coast South from Wollongong to just North of Batemans Bay .

129.8--- Melbourne ATC, c/s Melbourne Centre . Serves area 30-80NM SW of Sydney .

133.15--Melbourne ATC,c/s melbourne Centre . Covers ML-SYD route N of Wagga to NONUP .

124.1--Melbourne Radar ...Covers aircraft OCTA in the Rugby Bindook area.

128.4--Melbourne ATC, c/s Maelbourne Centre . Serves airways traffu=ic on the ML-SYD route N of Canberra CTM.

I'm not sure how any of these are linked . I can only pick up the aircraft and not the controllers from my location , however , I do recall flying from Mittagong to Young one day and monitoring 124.1 and hearing Qantas and other airways traffic coming through , so they must be linked somehow . Hope this helps .

Dave C

ah ok thanks for that david, yeah im trying to recall whats linked but i think 133.15 and 128.4 are linked but will confirm in next couple days as i can pick up both at work, i know 133.15 is at mt ginnini, 121.2 125.0 and 129.8 i have at mt mcallister 8km sw of taralga. not sure on the rest though, i can get 133.15 here at home but only the aircraft(the ground station is 110km/60nm away). i pick up the both air and ground comms from the mt mcallister site is its 35km/20nm away.
cheers and thanks for that
Matt :)
