Yes Daz,

A shopping list would be good. At what length is it best to go with 213 as opposed to 58 etc. What about antenna tuning?

Pics of your setup (without your face please LOL) showing the detailed setup and connections. Don't forget the computer side of things either mate.

Get to it, we are all waiting ;)

From my post on TAA
Quote:
am currently working on a couple of servers to stream live atc from melbourne as well as ADSB streams.

I posted this the other day but removed the post as i blew up the servers. So I am chasing up some servers to get this up and running. I hope to stream the following

- Live ATC
- Live Weather From Melb (own station)
- ACARS
- ADS-B

This will be streamed between four dedicated servers on a high speed network. Hope to have the basic streams up by christmas but ADS-B won't come up untill after xmas when i get some money for the receiver together.

Hope to stream many other feutures when its setup. This also depends on servers etc etc.

UPDATE

Still on track for christmas, Have got hold of a couple of P3's for $100 so that should be enough to power the streams. Still saving for the ADSB equipment most likelly be in Jan/Feb

Can you connect the scanner into the TV aerial?

yer you can but not sure on how the qaulity will be. You are only receiving signals you can stick a peice of wire in the scanner and it will work so i dont see why a TV antenna wont.

Chris, you can. Fine for VH air band. You need to wire some RG58U coax with one end having a connection into your wall outlet and then the other end with a BNC type connector for the scanner. The signals are actually not too bad either.

ok - cool....I will have to look into doing that.
I have one of those huge big 'country' antennas - it might work better than a gutter mount aerial do you think Darren?

Just depends on the conditions Chris. VHF airband is noisy at the best of times. The $40 'Scantenna' etc work well in regards to gaining DB and the RG58 prevents loss of DB (providing you don't have 100's of metres of it). What will you do when you want to watch telly? You may be able to make up some sort of splitter box. Not sure about that one. Really, best thing to do is get the 'Scantenna' from DSE. Install that on the gutter with your RG58, have that run to your scanner and then the scanner into your pc soundcard. Then you will be beaming the signals in. That's what I use. At the end, as long as you have fun playing around then streaming it on the net it's a great achievement mate!
