Hello all. Just wondering how many of you here would like to do as myself and others have and set up a live atc stream of your local area? Would be great to get as many as possible involved. All you need is a scanner, aerial, soundcard, 3.5mm plu into your pc line in and a copy of Windows Media Encoder. I could help you all with the setup etc. Would be great to hear some high altitude stuff from you guys in 'the middle of nowhere'. Ofcourse links to all your feeds would be published here and on the net. Let me know your thoughts.

Dick Smith 'Scantenna' or 'Bandspanner' externally mounted. Now, would love one from Cowra!

They are from about $35-$45 Glenn. Would be more than happy to help set up for you too. You need a gutter mount and some RG-58 coax too. Apart from that, freqs for the local traffic, overflies etc in that area which I know most of anyway. I am sure you know the local traffic freqs anyway. You could run through Dave at liveatc.net (which I do) or privately through WMencoder or both.

..also there is a utillity for Plane Plotter over in the files section of the PlanePlotter Yahoo Group.

PP2ATC10.zip

PP2ATC v1.0: Links to and plays live Air Traffic Control audio streams based on the current PlanePlotter chart display boundaries using a directory of Airports. Support is included for four audio players and five browsers, with provisions for the user to add others.

I haven't set it up yet, but intend to.. errr one day I will get around to it!

Cheers,
Mark

Does not matter anyway. Not too much Db lost unless you have stacks and stacks of coax mate.

Hey Darren - I will be interested to see your tutorial. I have a scanner...but the rest seems complicated. I will see about getting an aerial. If you put a 'shopping list' in your tutorial, that might be helpful too. or maybe you have and I just missed it
