I've downloaded PlanePlotter , payed my $40 , and registered . I need help . I am using a gas powered pc with Windows 98 operating system . I don't have google earth as it does not support W98 . Now I can see aircraft on the charts and maps , although not too many of them , but they are not tracking in real time . I have to cycle the "share " button , that blue one to get any movement of aircraft across the map . Is this because I am not using Google Earth or is there another reason I ask ?? .. Also any ideas why I am not seeing as many aircraft as I think I should ??. There are loads of VOZ and JST movements over my place but not many appear .... I need help please !!

Dave, go to the site where you downloaded originally mate and download the new version which is 4.1c. Then start the program only (not the green button) and go to: Help then setup wizard. Say no to 'do you have a receiver connected' and then yes to 'do you have an internet connection to enable sharing of data'. After that, load one of those ATC SE Australia maps I sent then the green button. Let me know how you go. If not, we can try more settings.

Darren,
I have downloaded the new version . I have an element of success . I can now track the returns , but with a refresh rate of about 60 secs . It is a big plus , at least the aircraft are appearing over my place more or less as per the display .

Dave,

Your refresh rate of 60 secs is correct. The planeplotter server updates every minute. If you have 'predict positions' ticked in the chart options box, aircraft will still appear to move until the server updates the info.

Thanks Darren and Pat ..What a relief ! ... I was beginning to think there was something amiss and the $ signs were starting to appear , and that is always a worry with me , know what I mean . Heres to some serious plotting now .
